Assets of $1,353,169.08, agreeing with the

balance shown in the note to the Statement of

Assets and Liabilities furnished by the Treas-

urer.

6. The Expenditure on the Kowloon-

Canton Railway during the year 1909 amounted

to $3,580,824.91 making the total Expenditure

on the Railway from its commencement $9,959,515.92. The difference between this

sum and the amount recorded in the Railway

Construction Books on 31st December 1909, viz:

$9,617,499.22, I am informed by the Local

Auditor, is due to the inclusion by the

Treasurer of certain items of Interest, Crown

Agents' transactions, and Transfers which ap- pear in the Railway account for January 1910.

7. There are a few questions of minor importance on the Account for 1909 awaiting

settlement.
